EXPERTISE

Holman has over 15 years of litigation and regulatory experience, including in the areas of environmental, Indigenous, municipal and corporate commercial law.  Holman has appeared at all levels of court in BC.  Prior to establishing an independent practice, Holman worked at a major firm with a national focus, as well as a boutique firm serving municipal and Indigenous clients.

Jana explains why Holman is a valued member of our team:  "One of the reasons why I founded Iris Legal was that I could hand-pick quality lawyers with flexible rates to work with me on a case-by-case basis.  I've known and worked with Holman for many years.  He has an acute legal mind and an extraordinary work ethic.  I am always thrilled when I get to involve Holman on file because I know the work will be top-rate and timely."

Holman is a Member of the Law Society of BC.

SELECT CASES

  • Represented the City of Prince Rupert to successfully remove a Certificate of Pending Litigation filed against lands on Watson Island in Prince Rupert housing the former Skeena pulp mill, in part due to imminent environmental concerns (Sun Wave Forest Products Ltd. v. City of Prince Rupert, 2012 BCSC 1908);

  • Assisted with preparing legal arguments for nine Stó:lō Nation communities who successfully challenged the federal government’s approval of the Trans Mountain Expansion Pipeline before the Federal Court of Appeal for failure to consult. This case is the largest of its kind ever before the Federal Court of Appeal; and
